Social Media Internship

Job Type: Part-Time Volunteer Intern (10+ hours per week)

Compensation: unpaid; volunteer internship (college credit – optional)

Job Description:

Become a Social Media Intern at Latinitas and help promote our mission, programs, and special events to the Austin area. The social media interns will have a unique opportunity to learn about nonprofit social media management through hands-on activities and exposure to a wide range of events and projects.

Your responsibility would be to further the public image of the organization and to help create wider exposure in the Austin area. We have plenty of opportunities to fill your portfolio while having a lot of fun and helping girls at the same time! We offer meaningful and fulfilling experiences for several interests and academic backgrounds.

This position is recommended for students with a major in Journalism, Communications, Business, Marketing, Public Relations or Advertising. However, anyone interested is very welcome to apply.

Tasks include:

  • Write and schedule social media posts and track them
  • Share ideas on new ways to use social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn)
  • Assist with creating and managing monthly social media calendars
  • Help develop and implement a social media plan for an upcoming events.
  • Design promotional materials as needed
  • Cover special events such as conferences and fundraisers by posting live Facebook posts and Tweets

Intern Requirements:

 This position is recommended for students with a major in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Digital Marketing, or Business. The ideal intern will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Interns should be enthusiastic, organized, resourceful, and creative. 

Bilingual students or graduates are encouraged to apply. Interns should have experience in social media, Hootsuite, writing, and editing. Photography, WordPress, and Canva experience is a plus. Training will be given as necessary.

Graphic Design Internship

Job Type: Part-Time Volunteer Intern (10+ hours per week)

Compensation: unpaid; volunteer internship (college credit – optional)

Job Description:

Latinitas conducts a wide variety of workshops camps and clubs, so we are always in need of promotional material as well as supplemental material for curriculum.  This internship requires that you are familiar with Photoshop and/or InDesign as well as the workflow necessary to complete the tasks assigned. Graphic Design Interns will be in charge of creating multiple promotional materials, infographics, and special event and campaign materials. Additionally, graphic design interns will have the opportunity to assist with the development of special event websites.  

Duties include:

  • Create flyers, ads, social media graphics, and other promotional or instructional material for the organization
  • Evaluate graphic design needs within the organization
  • Assist with the development of Latinitas Chica Conference websites 
  • Engage with our social media team and program team to determine what kid of images/graphics we need
  • Participate in events, workshops, or conferences outside of the office or work hours to familiarize yourself with the organization and learn more about the community we serve

Intern Requirements:

 This position is recommended for students with a major in Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, or Computer Science. The ideal intern will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Interns should be enthusiastic, organized, resourceful, and creative. We are looking for self-starters who are able to work independently and willing to take advantage of this opportunity to develop their graphic design skills.

Bilingual students or graduates are encouraged to apply. Interns should have experience in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Canva. Photography, Color Theory, Social Media and WordPress experience is a plus. Training will be given as necessary.

Content Production Internship

Job Description:

If you are interested in video production, photography and editing, and want to develop your skills, want to make a difference and get published, then this is the perfect opportunity for you. We have plenty of opportunities to fill your portfolio while having a lot of fun and helping girls at the same time! We offer meaningful and fulfilling experience for several interests and academic backgrounds. This position is recommended for students with a major in Journalism, Film, Television, English, Communications or Design.

Duties include:

  • Evaluate video editing needs for the organization
  • Actively participate at Latinitas events throughout the semester to capture footage and interview attendees.
  • Edit video footage from enrichment programs including workshops, camps and conferences
  • Engage with our social media team to evaluate content needs (photographs, b-roll, video).
  • Upload videos onto Google Drive, external drives, and YouTube
  • Assist with the re-organization of the Latinitas YouTube channels.
  • Work directly with our Volunteer Coordinator to schedule interviews with Latinitas Alumni

Intern Requirements:

The ideal intern will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Interns should be enthusiastic, organized, resourceful, and creative. We are looking for a self-starter who is able to work independently and is willing to take advantage of this opportunity to develop their filming, editing, and sound checking skills.

Interns must demonstrate proficiency with Google Drive, YouTube, video editing (with your preferred software), lighting, and sound. Website experience and photography is a plus. Training will be given as necessary. Bilingual students are encouraged to apply.

Website Content Editor Internship

Job Description:

Latinitas is a nonprofit focused on empowering all girls to innovate through media and technology. We publish an online magazine and host girl-empowerment programs focused on multimedia self-expression. We have recently revamped our organization’s website and need a web content editor to support the following tasks:

  • Edit website content to better reflect our latest mission statement
  • Write and create new pages and posts for the Latinitas website
  • Upload images and/or video with new pages and posts
  • Work directly with our Executive Director, Program Director, and Volunteer Coordinator to evaluate website needs and changes
  • Manage our website content including updating program pages, news and magazine pages

Intern Requirements:

  • Must have excellent writing and editing skills, as well as publishing skills.
  • Familiarity with WordPress
  • Basic HTML code knowledge encouraged but not required.
  • Bilingual proficiency encouraged but not required.
  • Proficiency with Google Drive and WordPress.
