Social Media Intern

Job Type: Part-Time Volunteer Intern (10 hours per week)

Compensation: Unpaid (college credit – optional)

Job Description:

Become a Social Media Intern at Latinitas and help promote our mission, programs, and special events to the Austin area. The social media interns will have a unique opportunity to learn about nonprofit social media management through hands-on activities and exposure to a wide range of events and projects.

Duties include:

  • Write and schedule social media posts and track them
  • Share ideas on new ways to use social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn)
  • Assist with creating and managing monthly social media calendars
  • Help develop and implement a social media plan for an upcoming events.
  • Design promotional materials as needed
  • Cover special events such as conferences and fundraisers by posting live Facebook posts and Tweets

Intern Requirements:

  • This position is recommended for students with a major in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Digital Marketing, or Business.
  • The ideal intern will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Interns should be enthusiastic, organized, resourceful, and creative.
  • Interns should have experience in social media, Hootsuite, writing, and editing.
  • Photography, WordPress, and Canva experience is a plus.

Your responsibility would be to further the public image of the organization and to help create wider exposure in the Austin area. This position is recommended for students with a major in Journalism, Communications, Business, Marketing, Public Relations or Advertising. Graphic Design Intern

Job Type: Part-Time Volunteer Intern (10 hours per week)

Compensation: Unpaid (college credit – optional)

Job Description:

Latinitas conducts a wide variety of workshops camps and clubs, so we are always in need of promotional material as well as supplemental material for curriculum.  This internship requires that you are familiar with Photoshop and/or InDesign as well as the workflow necessary to complete the tasks assigned. Graphic Design Interns will be in charge of creating multiple promotional materials, infographics, and special event and campaign materials. Additionally, graphic design interns will have the opportunity to assist with the development of special event websites.  

Duties include:

  • Create flyers, ads, social media graphics, and other promotional or instructional material for the organization
  • Evaluate graphic design needs within the organization
  • Assist with the development of Latinitas Chica Conference websites 
  • Engage with our social media team and program team to determine what kid of images/graphics we need
  • Participate in events, workshops, or conferences outside of the office or work hours to familiarize yourself with the organization and learn more about the community we serve

Intern Requirements:

  • The ideal intern will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Interns should be enthusiastic, organized, resourceful, and creative. We are looking for self-starters who are able to work independently and willing to take advantage of this opportunity to develop their graphic design skills.
  • Interns should have experience in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Canva.
  • Photography, Color Theory, Social Media and WordPress experience is a plus.

Job Description:

Latinitas is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering all girls to innovate through media and technology. We publish LatinitasMagazine.org, the first bilingual webzine, and deliver after-school “Club Latinitas” programs, summer camps, workshops, and chica conferences. We are seeking talented individuals to intern during our busy fall semester. Communications and Marketing Interns will have a unique opportunity to learn about non-profit public affairs through hands-on activities and exposure to a wide range of activities and projects.

This position is recommended for students with a major in Communications, Public Relations, Business, Marketing or Spanish; however, anyone interested is welcomed to apply.

Duties include:

  • Events: Aid in organizing and attending special events such as after-school fairs and community events
  • Marketing/Advertising: Help develop & implement marketing & advertising plans for small-scale events or projects
  • Public Relations: Update media contact list, write press releases for upcoming events, and create marketing plans
  • Editorial: Create and write feature stories on the Latinitas monthly e-newsletter

Intern Requirements

  • This position requires a minimum of 10 hours per week. Hours and days of work are flexible.
  • Intern is encouraged to gain experience and skills geared towards their interests.
  • Intern should possess excellent written and verbal communications skills, be enthusiastic, organized, resourceful, and creative.
  • Help further the public image of the organization and help create wider exposure in the Austin area.

Bilingual volunteers are encouraged to apply. Social media and some graphic design experience is a plus. Training will be given as necessary.

Reporter & Contributor Intern

Job Description:

Latinitas Magazine is the first digital magazine by and for Latina youth. Latinitas Magazine is dedicated to being a strong voice for young Latinas, telling the stories of our community and serving as a forum for self-expression. This national award-winning online magazine is currently recruiting college interns to serve as magazine writers. From quinces to fashion, advice to volunteering, college to mentoring, dating to entertainment, and wellness to culture, Latinitas focuses on topics related to being a Latina teen today with a Latina power theme. College students who are interested in developing their writing and multimedia skills and getting published in LatinitasMagazine.com are invited to apply.

Duties Include:

  • Submit feature stories (12 minimum per term)
  • Participate in weekly editorial meetings to give us ideas for future topics
  • Assist with editing the work of peers
  • Write and create new pages and posts for the Latinitas website
  • Schedule and conduct interviews and gather quotes for feature stories
  • Write advice columns

Intern Requirements:

  • Must have excellent writing and editing skills, as well as publishing skills.
  • Familiarity with WordPress
  • Bilingual proficiency encouraged but not required.
  • Proficiency with Google Drive and WordPress.
