Latinitas club members get tech boost at Future Chica Conference
Robots, video games, smartphones. These are smart technologies people use in their everyday lives but few see themselves creating. That’s the mindset that Latinitas, with help from its local partners, seek to change in girls ages 9 to 18 who attended the inaugural Future Chica Conference recently.
Participants learned about technology tools and platforms through hands-on demonstrations. The girls had the chance to expand on their own innovative ideas and become inspired by the local professionals who helped them explore careers in the technology, creative, design, and business industries. They ended the day by presenting their projects to fellow participants and parents.
A few of the Latinitas club members participated in a post-conference video to highlight the excitement and lessons from the conference. They said their favorite portions of the conference included using virtual reality technology and watching robots in action, including play sports. They were inspired to learn what women in STEM are capable of and walked out invigorated for their own career possibilities.
