Latinitas at SXSW

posted March 8, 2018

Getting more diversity, inclusion, and innovation in the tech industry must first start with getting more youth of color interested in tech, but it takes more than just an hour of code. Founders from culture and identity based tech education agencies including our own Latinitas founder Laura Donnelly will share best practices, vision and some frustrations about what’s working and what’s not working in getting youth of color exploring technology. Donnelly will be joined by Black Girls Code founder Kimberly Bryant and Dalinda Gonzalez Alcantar, founder of Border Kids Code for this inspired panel. Moderated by Danny Lucio from Google Fiber’s community division, the lively talk will reveal what these founders have learned and how it requires high-touch programs to really engage minority youth in the tech world and inspire them to go from becoming tech consumers to tech creators.  Join us Monday, march 12th
