SpoiledLatina Summit Was A Powerful Conference For Women: A Recap

Last Saturday, August 3rd, The SpoiledLatina Summit (SLS) held its 9th annual multicultural conference in Houston, and this year’s theme was “Own Your Poder.” All attendees wore their best summer soiree attire with a casual touch as they were encouraged to either wear heels or sneakers! This half-day event encouraged guests to visit the various brand activities from their sponsors, bid on their silent auction items, engage in panel discussions, listen to their keynote speaker, and attend workshops focused on leadership, entrepreneurship, content creation, and financial education. The event, held at AG Outdoor Venue, was empowering for women!

“At this year’s SpoiledLatina Summit, ‘Own Your Poder,’ we’re empowering each other to embrace our journey of growth and success and celebrate the milestones we’ve achieved,” said Founder of SpoiledLatina, Yvonne Guidry.

Mrs. Guidry’s non-profit Jefita Atrevida, with the support of Arca-Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages, awarded three Latina first-generation college students with grants.

As soon as guests pulled up, they arrived at complimentary valet courtesy of Volkswagen Cypress and checked in to receive their SLS swag bag filled with goodies from different sponsors including a Scrub Mommy sponge, and various cosmetics from brands like CoverGirl, Vitabrid C12, Milkshake, and Olaplex. The first 100 guests to arrive received a free floral bouquet from Lone Star Living Luxe.

Upon entering the outdoor portion of the venue, guests were immediately met with the cutest photo booth opportunities like a pink and yellow backdrop with the SLS logo and various sponsor logos surrounding it, as well as a multicolored backdrop with the summit’s logo above the slogan “Own Your Poder” in yellow and pink letters. There was also a pink stage decorated with fresh flowers on its pillars, the slogan “Own Your Poder” onstage, and the name of the nonprofit “Jefita Atrevida” on the stairs.

When I asked what the slogan means to SpoiledLatina and how she lives it every day, Ms. Guidry said “Walking around with your head up high, knowing who you are, [and] recognizing your value. I try to do it every day. I’m gonna own it, even when I don’t feel it, even when I don’t feel pretty, I’m just gonna try on different clothes until I find the one that fits and then I walk out and I feel confident again.”
