5 BIPOC Artists Performing at The Houston Rodeo in 2024

As we gear up for rodeo season, now is a great time to support all the BIPOC Artists performing in this year’s rodeo lineup for Houston. Here are 5 BIPOC artists to see perform at this year’s Houston Rodeo.

  1. 50 Cent

    The first artist to perform is 50 Cent. This Black American rapper is performing for Houston Rodeo’s Black Heritage Day on Friday, March 1. This concert is also sponsored by Kroger. This concert is a part of his Final Lap Tour that commemorates the 20th anniversary of his debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin’. The album was a best seller in 2003 and was nominated for Best Rap Album at the Grammy Awards.

  2. Ivan Cornejo

    Mexican American artist, Ivan Cornejo will perform at the Houston Rodeo on Sunday,  March 3. He is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter in the regional Mexican genre. In 2022, he won New Artist of the Year, and his debut album, Alma Vacía, won Regional Mexican Album of the Year from the Billboard Latin Music Awards for 2022 and 2023. His latest singles “Aquí te Espero” and “Dónde Estás” will be a part of his next album.

  3. Major Lazer

    DJ Trio, Major Lazer will perform on Friday, March 8. The Jamaican American group originates from Kingston and are in the electronic dance music genre. The members of this group are Diplo, Walshy Fire, and Ape Drums. You might be familiar with their hit song “Lean On,” which was a collaboration song with DJ Snake.

  4. Los Tigres del Norte

    For Go Tejano Day, Los Tigres del Norte will perform on Sunday, March 10. This concert is sponsored by Fiesta Mart. The Mexican band from San Jose, California is in the regional Mexican music genre and are known for their norteño music. They have won multiple Grammy awards over the years for best album in their genre.

  5. Bun B

    Last but not least, Houston’s own local rapper Bun B will perform Tuesday, March 12 for an All-American Takeover. This is the third installment of his All-American Takeover series, and this year special guests That Mexican OT, Nelly, Rick Ross, E-40, and Too Short will join him onstage. Bun B is best known as being a part of the rap duo, UGK (UnderGround Kingz).
