Remember Me When I Leave: Vortxz Ends 2024 Texas Tour in Houston

On Friday, Dec. 6, Vortxz finished their Texas Tour at Bad Astronaut in Houston, TX, which is their hometown and where they started their band. Originally from Pasadena, TX, this Latino Indie Rock band is growing in popularity and is set to continue their national tour in 2025. They recently released their debut album, Remember Me When I Leave, and Apple Music has featured their single “Amor De Mentiras” on their Latino Indie music playlist, “¡Ruido!,” which is also part of their Apple Music Indie collection. Their Houston fans got to enjoy an hour and a half of opening acts from DJ 5.Slow and RICKFROMTEXAS and two hours of new music from Vortxz’s new album, unreleased songs from their second album, and a cover of “Last Christmas” by Wham!, in the spirit of the Christmas holiday. During the opening acts, DJ 5.Slow was in the mix playing Reggaeton music like “PERRO NEGRO” by Bad Bunny & Feid, and then RICKFROMTEXAS introduced himself and sang songs from his first EP, Songs About You, like “Down”. For the main act, the lead singer, Isaias “Rambo” Rodarte, put on his guitar and crooned “Rollercoaster” and when he sang out the chorus the crowd started waving their hands in the air.

Vortxz continued their set with one of their earliest singles, “Reality”, which their Houstonian fans knew by heart, as they finished singing the chorus for him. The stage included a backdrop video of Vortxz performing live from the audience’s point of view so that fans standing at the back of the venue could see a close-up of the performance. The lyrics, “Remember me when I leave,” from that song inspired the name of their debut album and national tour. The trio band included Jonathan Lopez on the drums, Noe Rodriguez as lead guitarist, and Mr. Rodarte as lead singer and rhythm guitarist. They continued their set with another song on their new album, “I Haven’t Been”, while the video backdrop of them performing had a bright green graphic effect waving over them. Their show was nearly sold out and their audience was made up of different age groups that were dressed in either Western wear or Indie-style outfits. Mr. Rodarte sported a Black Cowboy hat to match his all-Black outfit and Black ankle boots.

This was my first time at a Vortxz concert and they did not disappoint! Towards the end of the show, the band slowed down their music by playing another single from their album called “For You” which had the crowd bobbing their heads to the guitar solo. Vortxz ended their show with more songs from their album like “Dragon Breath”, “Esperando”, and “You Know That”. As a Christmas gift, they also performed unreleased music for their Houston fans such as “I Like You”, “Todos Los Días”, and “Call Me On The Phone”. They had a super fun crowd interaction for their song “Up & Down” where fans were waving their hands in different directions! They also performed their Rock version of Grupo Frontera and Bad Bunny’s “un x100”, a remix of their original song “Memories”, and gave their fans a preview of a song they have in progress with Deorro. They finished off with a single called “Me and You” featuring Eucalyption that had Vortxz fans singing the chorus for them again while jumping and clapping. The band also let one of their fans’ daughter hop onstage to sing “My Love” with the band and played “Esos Besos” with the crowd singing along to the entire chorus. At the end of the show they threw free dragon teddy bears into the crowd and did a meet-and-greet offstage. Follow Vortxz on social media to find out their next national tour dates and when they will release new music.
