Sazón y Tradición: SpoiledLatina’s Latino-Themed Fashion Show Celebrates HHM in Houston

On Tuesday, Oct. 15, the last day of National Hispanic Heritage Month, Marketing Agency SpoiledLatina produced a fashion show for Jack Daniel’s to showcase Latino-owned clothing brands in Houston with the theme of Sazón y Tradición. Everyone was encouraged to dress “Houston Chic” as the event happened at the new Rock’em store in North Houston. The Latino energy, fashion, and culture were on full display as the walls were filled with various kinds of Western wear like boots, hats, and accessories. The first group of attendees got either a free hat from Rock’em branded with the initials JD, standing for Jack Daniel’s, or a custom T-shirt from Blessings.

In the spirit of fashion, I chose to pop on a red dress for the occasion, but sporting my complimentary beige-colored cowboy hat from Rock’em was the finishing touch that my look needed to match everyone else’s country-style outfits! I have been to previous events produced by SpoiledLatina, but hadn’t yet attended a fashion show produced by her. I was excited to see the Latino brands and clothing represented on the runway! Two local Latino-owned brands based in Houston were showcased: Rock’em and Blessings. The models wearing apparel by Rock’em displayed different western wear like hats, boots, and leather attire adorned with fringe or rhinestones that were very Texan. While models wearing the brand Blessings showed more casual streetwear that represents the Latino Hip-Hop culture of Houston.

After the fashion show, two Samba dancers from LD Entertainment Company performed and involved the audience by doing a Conga line together. The music was by DJ Rosez playing Hip-Hop and Latino music like “Not Like Us” by Kenrick Lamar with a Cumbia beat in the background. Various Houston creatives and entrepreneurs gathered at this invite-only event to celebrate Latino fashion and culture. Networking with these amazing Houstonians that are successful Latino influencers or business owners was awe-inspiring!

Every aspect of this event was touched by local Houston businesses. The event and drinks were sponsored by Jack Daniel’s. Each cocktail table had a black cloth over it and tiny black boots with flowers in them as centerpieces. There were also custom photo booth opportunities with the theme Sazon y Tradicion and Jack Daniel’s Sponsor logos on display that were created by Picnics in The City.

It was a special event for Latinos, because Latino fashion shows are such a rarity, and much more so in Houston. It was also such a welcoming space for all Latinos in Houston and I felt right at home! From seeing the Latino-inspired runway looks to purchasing my first rhinestone belt at Rock’em, I was having the time of my life, and Rock’em made sure to take care of their guests by giving everyone 20% off their next purchase.

The show was overall a fun celebration of Hispanic culture, style, and community in H-Town!
