On Saturday, September 21st, Grupo Firme graced the stage at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, WA, a fitting way to end the summer for lovers of Mexicano music. The Tijuana, Baja California-based band has risen to prominence in recent years with songs such as “Pídeme” and “Juro Por Dios” along with winning Best Banda Album at the Latin Grammy awards in 2021. The group is also known for their versatile styles of music, as they have covered Corridos and Cumbia in addition to Banda. For their Seattle show, audiences were treated to 2.5 hours of their most popular songs as well as covers from other prominent Mexican artists like Banda Carnival and Band El Recodo. During the opening number, lead singer Eduin Cazares dramatically entered the stage and belted out “Pídeme” while numerous women including myself went crazily wild as we noticeably screamed our lungs out with no care in the world. Eduin’s brother Jhonny Cazares also sang plenty throughout the night as they both traded lead vocals and improvised together. The show also heavily incorporated pyrotechnics and stage props adding to the party-esque atmopshere.
As with the name of the tour “La Ultima Peda,” the group constantly took shots of tequila and liquor throughout the evening coinciding with the tour theme. Featuring a heavy brass ensemble, accordion, and guitars the show also featured dancers and at one point had dancers in cowboy attire perform a choreographed sequence during the song “Tu,” which was the highlight of the night for me. Mid-show, singer Eduin, ( who is such a cutie pie), also came onto the B-Stage aboard a red vehicle prop and sang multiple ballads before entering back to the main stage. Playing to a nearly sold out crowd, audiences were of mixed ages and dressed in cowboy attire or stylishly dressed in club wear. Eduin also changed his urban attire to more of a caballero look minus the outfit the latter part of the show. Always one to party and put on a major production, Grupo Firme was an absolute blast to watch, and I hope this isn’t their last ultimate party tour as the band still has much to give to the world of Regional Mexican music. Concert attendee Frank Pacheco of Seattle, WA says, “My favorite part of the concert was when Eduin came out on the B-stage inside the red car, that was cool.” Grupo Firme’s next stops include places such as Oakland, CA, Phoenix, AZ, and Dallas, Texas on October 26th. It should also be noted the group just released a song with Demi Lovato titled , “Chula,” this summer which so far has gained over 3.3 million views on YouTube.
