Peso Pluma Fires Up Sold Out Crowd at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena

On Friday, August 16th, Peso Pluma played to a sold out frenzied crowd at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena.  Currently on his Exodo Tour, Pluma can be credited for ushering in a new generation and style of Mexican ‘’Corridos Tumbados.” At 25 years old, Pluma has catapulted to stardom due to his distinctive raspy vocals, style, and catchy rhythmic tunes. With the rise of the Corridos Tumbados genre, the music combines elements of Regional Mexican and traditional corridos along with urban and hip-hop influences while lyrically touching on a variety of experiences through storytelling reflecting today’s youth. Along with Pluma, Artist Natanael Cano have been key in bringing the genre into the mainstream which has even gained traction on the American Billboard charts. During Friday’s show in Seattle, Pluma featured an 8 piece band consisting of a tololoche, bajo sexto, guitars, and brass horns while his dance troupe dazzled the crowd with their extravagant showcase of choreography. Performing songs such as “PRC,” “Ella Baila Sola,” and “La Patrulla,” Pluma strutted across the stage with his youthful charisma and fired up the crowd with his bad boy persona while addressing the audience in between takes. During the evening, collaborator Tito Double P made a few appearances which garnered excitement from the crowd. The two have collaborated on songs “Belanova,” “La People II,” and “Los Cuadros.”

During the latter part of the show, Pluma transitioned into performing a few of his reggaeton tunes which plunged the atmosphere into a club-like environment as thousands of Latino youths dressed in their best screamed off the top of their lungs, some even so drunk they couldn’t find their footing. Young women wearing thigh high boots, halter tops, and skirts filled the arena while the young men styled themselves with Chicano street clothing and earrings reminiscent of Pluma’s own ear jewelry.  Not only were plenty of youths in attendance, but Latino’s of all ages were prevalent in attendance. In one portion during the show during the performance of “PRC,” Pluma while draped in a Mexican Flag, saluted his country of origin and strutted carelessly across the stage while a video showcasing other Regional Mexican artists displayed causing a positive uproar from the crowd, a nod to his fellow peers. A two-hour riveting showcase of Corrido Tumbados extravagance,  it’s no surprise Pluma is at the top of the charts and garnering recognition across the border in American pop-culture, bringing awareness to Mexico’s rising talent and new generation of artists. Concert Attendee Justine Castro also enjoyed the show and tells us, “Peso Pluma’s concert was one of a kind. Exciting and mesmerizing. The fireworks and lights that went with his music was a nice touch, and you can tell he put a lot of thought into his tour. It felt like a Las Vegas show in Seattle.”
